The 5055 provides space and controls for up to eight Ultra SCSI disk units on the system unit. The configurator will specify #5055 as the first storage expansion unit if eight or less disk units (not including the disk units allowed in the system unit) are required. You can override the configurator and specify #5052, #5058, or #5083 instead of #5055.
If the number of disk units exceeds the eight allowed in the #5055, the configurator will specify #5052, #5083, or #5058. The #5052 and #5058 are the only storage expansion units allowed on the expansion towers. When there is a choice, #5058 must be specified before #5052. Prerequisites: #9751 (Base MFIOP with RAID) or #9754 (Base MFIOP w/Compression), #5151 (Power Supply (650 Watts)). For models: 640, 730, S30. IBM list price: $2700.00.
